My desktop computer died yesterday. We had some good times together, but her time had long since passed.

I can't decide whether I should replace it or not. I could just get a nice monitor and external harddrive to plug my laptop into. The only reason I can think for having a desktop is for torrent related stuff, and I haven't done much of that lately. What do you, the viewers at home think? I'm leaning towards just getting whatver today's bottom of the line number from Best Buy is.

How many of you still have desktops?

Here's the thing with me - I was just wondering why people still have TVs anymore. If my TV died I'd just replace it with a really nice desktop computer since that's where I watch all my TV shows. I don't hardly ever watch movies but if I wanted to the computer plays DVDs and I could spin the screen around to face a comfier chair.

This line of thinking was brought on because we went to a party at one of Bruce's co-worker's apartment and realised that we hadn't seen one. He's a pretty techie guy and thought that was odd so we just figured he did everything over his computer.

I have a desktop that is currently in my storage unit, awaiting repair. It has sentimental value, quite a lot of it, so I will keep fixing it as long as it can still be fixed... Then, I will probably not buy another. I totes love my laptop.

You'd be totally right, except that I have to do a data extraction, to get all my docs, graphics and music. If I'm going to do all that I'd might as well reinstall XP too. Everything will be RIGHT THERE.

If you're thinking desktop, now's the time w/ Black Friday deals coming soon...I think I've seen deals at Best Buy for about $200. I couldn't tell you the specs, but it's worth looking at if you're okay w/ a clunker.

We have two- one was a sweepstakes win and the other was a gift from my brother. Frank uses them for World of Warcraft (groan), since our laptops aren't as capable. I prefer to use the desktops for photo editing; easier to see the flaws that need fixin' on the monitor.
